XM607 Buttstock
Changes

  1. The Buffer Tube was changed to a one piece tube instead of a welded two piece to increase strength and reduce labor.
  2. The Receiver End Plate was changed to steel that is1/8" thick like M16 carbines.
  3. The Outer Locking Tube lip diameter was reduced so the Tube isn't visible from the outside.
  4. The most important change was to the End Cap and Operating Lever. Both of these parts are now cast versus the original CNC machined parts. The Initial cost is high, but hopefully this change will make the stock closer to the original.

XM607 Buttstock Project Update

As you may or may not know, the XM607 buttstock by WA-Tom of Total Silence Inc has been off the market for over two years. Since then a joint venture was formed to redevelop the XM607 buttstock and put it back on the market.

This project is close to being complete. The previously developed stock was updated to improve on the already great "bolt on version" of the 1960s Colt First Generation two position buttstock. Minor improvements were made to the existing designs to aid in production and esthetics, see side bar.

Bolt On Version and Pinned Version

I am in hopes that both the Bolt On Version and a Pinned Version of the XM607 Buttstock will be available. Just like the original XM607 Buttstock, the pinned version will require modification to your lower to properly work. I will not be providing this service as I am not a FFL manufacturer. Stay tuned for more information.

10/22/08 Update - Price...$395.00 for Bolt On 607 Stock.

Tom had it right a few years ago...that the cost to manufacture these stocks are high. With my initial run of 100 machined parts and 250 cast parts, I thought I would be able to lower the price of the stocks from Tom's last price, but that isn't possible. I am listing these 100 stocks at $395.00 just to get through this first run of 100 stocks. At that point I will have a better idea of how much money I made or lost. After the outside machining is completed, one part needs to be welded, all parts need to be parkerized or anodized, the stocks them self require one to two hour of work to complete. Where I am hoping to do better is in the labor to complete the stock (welding, blasting, machining, fitting, potting, etc.). If I can reduce the labor, then I can assure myself I can make a profit. It would be nice if I could just make these for the good of the Retro Community, but everyone needs to make a living or it is pointless.

10/22/08 Update - 607 Handguards will be available in limited supply.

Tom has manufactured 607 Shortly Triangle Handguards from his remaining stock, and front and rear caps are either in or on the way in. So I am happy to announce that we will have 607 Handguards available and I am pretty sure they will remain at TSI previous price of $75.00
